No more paper and pencil
UBD had an older web-based mobile solution which was sensitive to lack of internet connection and therefore was not used by all hauliers. Therefore UBD decided to purchase a tailor-made TMS mobile solution from Tecsys.
Jens Pedersen, Distribution Manager at UBD, explains, "The choice of supplier came naturally to us, as we already had Tecsys as a supplier for our WMS Pick-to-Light solution and TMS Route Planning."
The Tecsys TMS mobile solution is an app for iOS and Android that can be used on all mobile phones. The app streamlines the distribution process from loading cars, to delivery and collection of goods from dealers.
TMS mobile solution
The TMS app puts an end to paper and pencil. The app ensures that each retailer always receives the correct number of boxes and bundles.
The TMS mobile solution is robust and also works offline, giving an uptime of 99.9%. “After we got the app, I don’t get calls in the middle of the night because of problems. The magazines have to go out, and it is a must that the retailers have their goods on time,” says Jens Pedersen.

User-friendly
"Hauliers have embraced the app, which works easily. They log in with their UBD login and choose the tour in the menu, which is logically structured. The app is designed so a trucker with winter-cold fingers can easily hit the button. They also like the car status function, which ensures that the driver always knows how many bundles he has left on the car, which is a great help," says Jens Pedersen.

Improved customer service
"Good customer service is very important to UBD and it is great to see that it is exactly customer service that has brought home the gold with this solution," says Jens Pedersen, and continues, "They have saved a lot of time and many phone calls. They can now answer retailers more accurately, without having to first investigate and then return. Today, they have a full status of all vehicles, they can follow the vehicles via GPS tracking and it gives a unique overview of what has been delivered and what has been taken back, as everything is registered in the app. This is worth gold for our customer service."
"Support from Tecsys works well" says Jens Pedersen and continues "we have two permanent contacts at Tecsys and they work in tandem, so there is always someone to service our solution".

A better overview, and faster and more efficient communication with drivers, also means that each customer service employee will often be able to manage the scheduling, planning and monitoring of several vehicles.
